  • 1943 – makes his debut for River Plate
  • 1947 – South America champion with Aregentina for whom he won 7 caps
  • 1949 – moves to Millionarios of Bogota; appears four times for Columbia
  • 1953 – joins Real Madrid
  • 1956 – wins first of five successive European Cups; wins first of 31 caps for Spain
  • 1960 – scores hattrick in Real's 7-3 defeat of Eintracht Frankfurt in Glasgow
  • 1964 – joins Espanol; retires to take up coaching
  • 1971 – guides Valencia to Spanish Championship

Capable of attacking and defending with equal effectiveness, Alfredo Di Stefano added tremendous stamina and versatility to pace and awesome shooting power. Together with Puskas and Gento he formed the back-bone of the all-conquering Real Madrid team of the late 1950s. A prolific marksman, he scored 49 goals in 59 European matched, 219 in the Spanish league, and 26 in the international appearances for Argentina and Spain.
