Michel Platini was famed for his extraordinary vision and passing ability, as well as his expertise from dead-ball situations. Capable of unlocking any defense, he also boasted an impressive scoring record for a midfielder, including 41 goals in his 72 appearances for France. Composed and elegant, he was a central component of France's superb midfield of the mid-1980s, partnering Giresse, Tigana, and Fernandez in the European Championship winning team.
