Symbol of the "Magnificent Magyars" who dominated European football during the early 1950s, Puskas terrorised defenses with his deceptive acceleration and the power of his left foot. At club level he was a central component of the all-conquering Real Madrid team of the late 1960s, finishing four times top scorer in the Spanish league and forming a devastating partnership with Alfredo Di Stefano. His tally of 83 goals in 84 international appearances is bettered only by Pele.
