Nicknamed the "Black Panther" for his acrobatic athleticism and his ability to save seemingly unstoppable shot, Lev Yashin is generally considered to be the greatest goalkeeper of all time. Initially drawn to ice hockey, he switched allegiances to football at 23 years of age, and is said to have over 150 penalty saves to his name. Admired throughout his career for his sportsmanship, Yashin was much loved as an ambassador for football and fairplay.
