- Served as a member of the director committee for the Algerian Football League 1955-62
- Member and then secretary of the Central Committee of the French Cup 1963-68
- General Secretary of the French Football Federation (FFF) 1969-72
- President of the France Football Federation 1973-84 (Will be named honorary president of FFF in 1999)
- Also served as a VP of the French National Committee for Olympics and Sport (CNOSF) 1982-94
- Member of European Championship Committee from 75-84, serving as president during French teams championship in 1984
- 1989-92 Co-President of the successful candidature committee for World Cup 1998
- 1992 Named Co-President of France 98 Organizing Committee (CFO) alongside Michel Platini, an inaugural member of the Hall of Champions
- On the eve of the World Cup which he was instrumental in acquiring and organizing, Fernand Sastre passed away due to cancer at the age of 74 in June 1998
